The Future of TV
1. Streaming Services
In addition to traditional broadcasting, television has adapted to current trends in streaming. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and other streaming platforms give viewers the option to choose what they want to watch compared to traditional cable TV industry where viewers are only able to watch scheduled programs live.
2. Devices other than a TV
Individuals can often watch television on any electronic device including a computer, laptop, and smartphone. Many sources offer access to their content online either through their websites, YouTube, or other applications providing more access without the need for cable or an actual television set.
3. Interaction
With the development of Smart TVs, Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AR) technology, and other gaming and wearble devices, viewers can more actively participate in media: make choices that influence the narrative, experience content in 3D, and more.
The increased availability of information sharing platforms also allow for more people to share their own content. This creates an opportunity to hear from more voices, but can also result in an overload of information or misinformation.
